Musical Style: African music
Kaïro Band, a musical ensemble comprising 8 musicians representing the African diaspora, offers a compelling and creative fusion that captivates audiences. Traditional handmade African instruments such as the kora, djembe, and calabash seamlessly blend with modern elements like guitar, bass, and drums, producing exquisite melodies. The group communicates "kaïro" messages, translating to peace and love in the Mandinká language, through their music and performing arts. They showcase representative elements of the culture and tradition of Casamance, a region in the southern part of Senegal. Led by the artist, singer, and composer "Black in White," who hails from the same region and is a proponent of Diola culture, the band operates under the motto: "I make music by the people, not for the people." Drawing inspiration from the traditional rhythms of Casamance, afrofolklore, afrobeat, reggae, and Latin influences, Kaïro Band introduces innovative colors and generates lively and exciting melodies that engage the senses and transcend movement.
