Biography
Los Espíritus is a rock band from Buenos Aires, Argentina, formed in 2010 in the La Paternal neighborhood. Known for their blend of blues, rock, and psychedelic sounds, the band quickly gained attention with their early releases, including the EP Hacele caso a tu espíritu and the singles El Gato and Lo echaron del bar, the latter becoming a hit on Mexican radio.
In 2013, they released their self-titled debut album, earning critical acclaim and the "Revelation 2013" award from the Argentine newspaper Página/12. This success brought them opportunities to perform on FM Nacional Rock and Argentina’s TV Pública. The band's profile expanded further with their second studio album, Gratitud (2015), which opened doors to international tours in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Spain, and appearances at major festivals.
Their third album, Agua ardiente (2017), continued their rise, leading to tours across Mexico, Uruguay, Germany, and France. However, in 2019, the band faced internal turmoil following a public allegation of sexual abuse against lead singer Maxi Prietto. After briefly leaving, Prietto was reinstated, causing three members—Santiago Moraes, Francisco Paz, and Fernando Barreyro—to depart.
Despite this controversy, Los Espíritus remained active, participating in prominent festivals such as Lollapalooza and Cosquín Rock. Their music is influenced by legendary Argentine rock acts like Manal, Pescado Rabioso, and Color Humano.
The current lineup includes Maxi Prietto (vocals, guitar), Felipe "Pipe" Correa (drums), Miguel Mactas (guitar), and Martín Ferbat (bass). Their discography includes notable albums such as Los Espíritus (2013), Gratitud (2015), Agua ardiente (2017), Caldero (2019), and the 2023 release La Montaña.
