Cruïlla brings this weekend to Barcelona: Robert Plant, Alabama Shakes, Crystal Fighters, Bomba Estéreo...

Cruïlla Festival (schedule of performances) is often cited as the third most important musical event in Barcelona, based only on the numbers of attendees, behind the Primavera Sound and Sonar.

However, this year the Cruïlla musical quality could far exceed the Sónar who seems to live of past rents and wants to focus more on its congress Sonar+D rather than the music. The billing of Sonar this year doesn't seem to be as 'advanced' (the festival leitmotif) as it used to be.

Another thing that Cruïlla advances to the 'all-powerful' Primavera Sound is in something as basic and elemental as comfort and is also a great event. In the Cruïlla nobody says 'go to Mordor' when you want to leave a main stage to go to another or is so crowded that at seven pm you can not not walk around the festival, one does not have to watch the artists as if they were the size of Lego dolls ... Anyway, we continue with the 'neutral' tone of this note.

Particularly remarkable in the 2016 Cruïlla is the presence of former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant, who last year had to perform on the Costa Brava but eventually canceled the show. This myth of the rock will be presented with the band The Sensational Space Shifters. They will present 'Lullaby ... and the Ceasless Roar', 2014, covering sonorities ranging from electronics to African music. ¿Will he sing some of Led Zeppelin? He is quite likely to do medleys and sing some of them.

Among the foreign artists and groups, highlights the presence of the rock'n'soul of Alabama Shakes, tribalism Crystal Fighters, the unmistakable voice of Cat Power returning back to the festival, jazz funk of Esperanza Spalding, the great feast of the explosives Bomba Estéreo, the Madchester sound of James, drum'n'bass and funk of Rudimental, idols of the nineties Skunk Anansie, the European reggae of Seeed-a devastating combination of dancehall, reggae, dub, ska and hip hop-, Calexico rock, dance-rock of Digitalism, the combative voice of Ana Tijoux -a few months performed on the anniversary of 'La Directa'-, more hip hop with Emicida from Brazil, jazz-funk big band Snarky Puppy, another figure as Damien Rice or, as in any way you can miss in the Cruïlla, the Balkan festival, this time with Shantel mixing with danceable electronics and accompanied by the Bucovina Orkestar.

Among spanish and local artist we will find Love of Lesbian, this group is in an exceptional moment of grace and, after three nights in a row presenting 'El poeta Halley' in Razzmatazz, will make their only summer stop in Barcelona at Cruïlla Festival.

Another inescapable figure of the festival, the type 'love or hate' is Bunbury, former lead singer of Heroes del Silencio. Fermin Muguruza, meanwhile, will present the Kortatu and Negu Gorriak versions that has made the project Irun Meets with New Orleans.

Vetusta Morla returns to the festival again with his epic pop and complete the lineup the bands 091 and Elefantes, Adrià Puntí presenting 'La clau de girar el taller', the new way of LaMari with Chambao - leaving behind the flamenco chill-out-, the Egon Soda's Ricky Faulkner, the indie Xoel Lopez, Ramon Mirabet, Valencia hip hop Zoo, and finally, Animal, Pribiz and Pesh.
