Suede & Goat warm up Primavera Sound 2016

Primavera Sound opened yesterday a new edition. Park Forum lived on Wednesday June 1 a day with a massive attendance despite transportation problems because Barcelona subway strikes and, shortly, bus strike.

The first day of concerts at Primavera Sound in the Park Forum, as usual for some years, is free admission. The public could enjoy free performances Suede, brit-pop heroes of the nineties, the Goat psychedelic tribalism, Sr. Chinarro's melancholy and local groups El Último Vecino and Doble Pletina.

Suede concert, making a festival concert, hymn after hymn, with a plethoric Brett Anderson. The Forum site was packed with a largely foreign audience.

Goat also got a large mass of people. The Swedish septet acted clothed with African-influenced and voodoo clothing. Theirs is a sound that fuses the ancient, tribal rhythms and African rock  with black American musical tradition, especially funk.

Inside the songs, the group amplifies its hypnotic tone with a very repetitive jam session, like mantras in 'loop' version. The two 'witches' accompanied the group with vocals and dances that seem taken from a black magic ritual. Only the campfire was missing.

It is remarkable and surprising that a festival wich helds in this edition of 2016 more than 300 concerts have amplified the sound of Goat, and much of the Sr. Chinarro's concert, such an unfortunate way. Suede compared sounded glory.

Nor was quite right that a group like Goat, surrounded by an aura of mystery and evil ritual, act when it was still day and also being illuminated with white light, eliminating much of the 'ecstatic' feeling and 'trance 'the group emanates. While dress looked good way, much of the group's image was lost. Those who remember Goat's performance at Primavera Sound 2013 in a secondary stage, while Blur, perhaps agree. Another impression on Goat concert is that the group seems to have taken over his last compositions a more 'ethnic' way and a little farther away from the psychedelic rock. Goat last published work is called 'I sing in silence' and is a seven-inch with a sound almost 'unplugged'. The B-side is a song called 'The Snake of Addis Ababa', a North African mantra that highlights the guitar distortions and the rhythm of the djembe. Goat are really a curious group, worthy to see and follow.

Primavera Sound 2016 atmosphere
