Ferran Pisa and its tiorba begin the classical music cycle '30 minutes' at the Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona

Ferran Pisa and its tiorba begin the classical music cycle

Ferran Pisa, a theorbo concertist, an instrument of the lute family, has been responsible for starting this afternoon one of August '30 minutes’ classical music cycle at the Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona. This cycle is a part of the Mas i Mas Festival wich, as is regular every August, liven up the city with events of jazz, classical and popular music.

Being a lover of classical music or not is an experience to attend a concert of this kind in the Atlantis Royal Circle room. The decoration of the small hall, with sculptures that 'hold' the roof, invite observation and calm necessary to enjoy a chamber concert.

However, it is desirable that the glass doors and room windows were isolated from the rushing of tourists going up or down the stairs to the terrace or the sound of restaurant dishes clashing. In addition, it could prevent amplification of the instrument, probably unnecessary in a room this size.

Pisà briefly explained before start playing that Giovanni Girolami Kapsberger (Italianate name Johann Hieronymus Kapsberger, virtuoso of the seventeenth century theorbo), which has interpreted 'Bergamasca' 'Passacaglia' or 'Toccata 1th', was considered a musician "extravagant" by his contemporaries because of his compositions. Instead, the musician pointed the "narrative" parts of the French Robert de Visée, court musician of Louis XIV, which has interpreted 'Chaconne' and 'The Sylvan'.

Harmonious and peaceful music filled the room half-full by people of respectable age, tranquility and peace that was only broken in the few moments that the musician has toured the upper strings of the theorbo, with a remarkable dramatic sound. And for drama, leaving the concert to get into the human tide that passes through the door of the Royal Artistic Circle, between Portal del Angel and the Avenue of the Cathedral, a Saturday afternoon in August.

The cycle continues throughout August with three concerts every day at 18:30, 19:30 and 20:30 except the last concert, which will be at 18:30 and 20:30.
