France bans 5,000 people concerts until September

Edouard Philippe, the French Prime Minister, has announced that shows of more than 5,000 people will be banned in France until at least September. This automatically means that the music festival season has been cancelled in France due to the coronavirus epidemic that has struck more than 20,000 people in this country.

Moreover, the leader's exit plan presented to the French National Assembly, which will take place after May 11, states that no concert halls, museums or theatres will be opened. A hit to the culture of which only small museums, libraries and media libraries will be saved. Discotheques will also remain closed, at least until the first of June.

"By contrast, large museums, which attract a large number of visitors outside their living area, cinemas, theatres and concert halls, where one stays in the same place in a closed environment, will not be able to reopen,"  Philippe said, adding that this measure also affects "important sporting and cultural events, in particular festivals, major fairs, all events that bring together more than 5,000 participants and are therefore the subject of a declaration to the prefecture and must be organized well in advance ".

The French festivals that have already announced the cancellation of this edition are Eurockéennes de Belfort, Vieilles Charrues de Carhaix (Finistère) or the Francofolies de La Rochelle. One of the most important that has not yet been announced is the Rock En Seine in Paris (from August 29 to September 1) with a capacity of 100,000 people.
