Hard hit to live music in Manchester

Manchester has lost two of its concert halls due to financial difficulties deriving from the Covid-19 crisis. These are Gorilla (2012, 600 people capacity) and The Deaf Institute (2008, 300 people), two medium-sized venues that have been at the forefront of the city's music and the first stage for many bands in the North West of England. Well-known names such as James Blake, Florence & The Machine, The 1975 or Kylie Minogue - performing on their last tour in an intimate format- have performed there.

Now it is expected that, once the pandemic is over, some person or company will recover them for live music. Moreover, the city of Hull is about to lose two of its key venues: Polar Bear and The Well, both with more than 100 years of history.

The British Government considers that the closure of theatres and concert halls has the potential for part of the country's cultural heritage to be demolished, for this reason, it will make it difficult for these places to be lost forever.
