The cost of the ‘Barcelona, we’ll get out of it’ festival is repulsed by many artists

The publication of the cost of the production of the festival ‘Barcelona, we will get out of it’, 200,000 euros, has caused the suspension of many of the planned performances. Groups and artists such as Sopa de Cabra, Els Catarres, Suu, Lildami, Txarango, Stay Homas, Koers and Clara Peya have published statements dissociating themselves from the initiative of the Barcelona City Council, noting that the cost is disproportionate in a context of health crisis.

The festival had planned about twenty performances on various balconies and terraces in Barcelona that could be seen on TV3 or BTV on May 9th. Also part of the lineup are Joan Manel Serrat, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Manolo García, Amaia, Antonio Orozco and performances from Madrid by Leiva or Coque Malla.

Finally, Barcelona City Council has announced that the festival will not have a municipal investment and that its cost will be assumed by its producers ‘El Terrat’ and ‘Mediapro’. It  also recalled that the purpose of the concerts was to pay tribute to the victims of the coronavirus and to encourage people who resist confinement.
