The French singer France Gall has lost the battle against cancer and has finally died at 70 years. A French pop icon that won Eurovision 1965 with Serge Gainsbourg and the song 'Poupée de cire, Poupée de son' disappears. He also made Europe dance with the hit 'Ella, Elle l'a'. A month ago another icon of French music died, Johnny Hallyday.
Gall was born in 1947 in Paris and his father composed songs for such famous artists as Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour. At the age of 16 she began her musical career singing 'Ne sois pas si bête'.
She achieved fame as a ye-ye singer during the sixties singing songs of the then not well known Gainsbourg as 'N'écoute pas les idoles' and 'Laisse tomber les filles' until winning Eurovision 1965 representing Luxembourg.
She continued to sing, already married to the composer Michel Berger, with great successes during the 70s and '80s, such as the musical 'Starmania 'or her great hit, a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, 'Ella elle l'a', until the death of her daughter in 1997, the year she announced her retirement.
She only agreed to sing with the recently disappeared Johnny Hallyday the song of Berger, who had died in '92 of a heart attack, entitled 'Quelque chose de Tennessee' in 2000.
