Boni, guitarist of Barricada, dies

Francisco Javier Hernández Larrea, better known as Boni, died at the age of 58 last Friday, January 8, in Pamplona (Spain) as a result of laryngeal cancer. In June 2018, he underwent surgery to remove a tumor in his larynx, as a result of which he lost his voice.

Boni was one of the founders of the group Barricada in 1982 together with El Drogas, one of the most successful rock groups in Spanish. He was a member until 2013 when the group disbanded. He then embarked on a solo career with the group Boni as a singer and guitarist, releasing the albums ‘Incandescente’ (2015) and ‘Réquiem por el mundo’ (2018). Among his most memorable songs with Barricada are ‘No hay tregua’, ‘Okupación’ or ‘Rojo’.
