Singer Denise Johnson has died at the age of 56 "suddenly" after a week-long illness and the cause is unknown at the moment, according to her family, although she was found holding an inhaler.
The artist, born in Manchester, participated as backing vocals in the ‘Screamadallica’ of the early years of the Primal Scream band, between 1991 and 1995.
She also participated in several Bobby Gillespie songs such as 'Don't Fight It, Feel It' or 'Higher Than The Sun', she collaborated for 25 years with A Certain Ratio, the electronics band 808 State and other Manchester groups such as New Order –In the album 'Music Complete'-, Johnny Marr or The Charlatans.
Denise Johnson had started a solo career and her debut album 'Where Does It Go' will be released posthumously.
