New SonarXS stage, dedicated to irreverent sounds

Sónar has added 60 new performances for its next edition of 2017 (from 15 to 17 July at the Barcelona Fair and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat). Highlights include the creation of the ninth stage of the festival, SonarXS (in Sónar by day), dedicated to irreverent, extreme, street artists and very fashionable among young people. Spanish acts Bad Gyal, BSN Posse, Bejo, Dellafuente or Maka will pass through this scenario.

There will also perform Kiddy Smile (exponent of French Ballroom), Conor Thomas (experimental), Deena Abdelwahed (electronic and Tunisian sounds), Total Freedom (trance and Latin sounds), Dj Florentino (reggaeton) and Aethereal Arthropoda (drone). The program of this new space is not closed.

Outside of this new space, Sónar 2017 have confirmed the shows of  Thundercat (soul, funk and electronic music), Cerrone (usual of New York's Studio54, will make a show with live vocalists), Sohn (electronic pop), Andy Stöten (techno and dub-house), DAWN (r&b), Jlin and Princess Nokia (hip hop and trap).

Among the new confirmations of the spanish scene are Anímic (with his new work 'Skin'), C. Tangana (rap), Aitor Extebarria (El_Txef_A, with a soundtrack on the bombing of Guernika during the Civil War), Fran Lenaers (A legendary dj from Valencia and its 'Ruta del Bakalao'), Fira Fem (featuring 'Vida Nueva'), Playback Maracas (tropical and psychedelic), Connectome (pop), Bawrut (techno, acid), Diego Armando (African rhythms, dub) Tutu (dance, pop, electronic), Pauk (experimental, IDM), Judah (hip hop, funk), Telmo Trenor (beats), Mario Nieto (breaks, future beats), Rumore (house, balearic) and Sandro Jeeawock (r&b, footwork).

The Red Bull Academy has closed its stage with Thundercat, Matmos, Robert Hood with his daughter Lyric, Veronica Vasicka, MC Earl Sweatshirt and other artists such as Suicideyear, Denis Sulta, Star Eyes b2b Jubilee, RayRay, Daniel Brandt & Eternal Something, Miiin, Etyen, Crystal / Sparrows, Ghostly Enemies, Huma, Lanoche, Lamusa and Sofie Winterson.

In the first round of confirmations of the festival were announced Nicolas Jaar, Moderat, Eric Prydz, De La Soul, Nina Kraviz, Nosaj Thing & Daito Manabe... In the second round were announced Anderson .Paak, Carl Craig, Arca, Evian Christ, Vitalic, Little Dragon, Soulwax...
