Jazzaldia 2018: Chick Corea, Caetano Veloso, Gregory Porter, Dave Holland, Yann Tiersen...

The Breton Yann Tiersen, well-known for being the composer of the soundtrack of the film 'Amélie', is one of the latest confirmations of the San Sebastian festival Jazzaldia 2018. He will perform on July 29 at the Kursaal in San Sebastián. It will be a solo concert, only accompanied by his piano and his violin.

The poster of the event, which in its last edition had 156,000 spectators, has a varied character, can be found from jazz heavyweights such as Caetano Veloso -performing with his three children-, Chick Corea -with an 'acoustic' band-, Dave Holland, the energetic Brad Mehldau Trio, Cecile McLorin Salvant -recent Grammy for best young jazz singer-, Gregory Porter - paying tribute to Nat King Cole-, the Balearic Marco Mezquida (image) with his 'Dreams of Ravel', Carla Bley, Zakkir Hussain, Michel Portal, the young singer Jacob Collier, the new French jazz stars: Émile Parisien (saxophonist), Vincent Peirani (accordionist), Médéric Collignon (trumpeter) and Tom Ibarra (guitarist) ... And the last Eurovision winner, the Portuguese Salvador Sobral - accompanied by André Rosinha's double bass and Bruno Pedroso's drums - despite winning a light song contest, his professional career has always been linked to jazz.

Another one of the great moments of the festival will be the inauguration, in charge of Maceo Parker, accompanied by the orchestra of Ray Charles, with a repertoire dedicated to the missing singer and pianist. It will be a free concert at Zurriola beach of San Sebastián.
