Sant Andreu Jazz Band, La Locomotora Negra, Iron & Wine and Fatoumata Diawara & Roberto Fonseca, at 47th Festival Internacional de Jazz de Barcelona

The Sant Andreu Jazz Band, home of Catalan jazz singers as Andrea Motis, Eva Fernández or Magalí Datzira among other young stars, on the orders of Joan Chamorro, will perform at the Palau de la Música Catalana in the 47th Voll-Damm International Festival Jazz of Barcelona.

The concert, scheduled for next November 14th, 2015, will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band and will be double: Motis Chamorro-Band Young Jazz Sextet with saxophonist Joel Frahm as guest artist.

La Locomotora Negra, the oldest big band of Catalonia, will return to the festival the 11th December 2015 presenting its 'Jazz Cities Tour' project on the same stage.

The singer Buika (November 7) and Paquito D'Rivera -after his 'tour de force' in the Jamboree playing almost every day a week in the Festival Grec and Mas i Mas-special guest of the Symphonic Orchestra del Vallés (November 21), who presents in Barcelona ‘Cape Cod Concerto’, also will step the boards of Palau de la Música.

Afro-Cuban connection
The Cuban Roberto Fonseca, who has taken over Ruben Gonzalez in the Buenavista Social Club, and the African singer Fatoumata Diawara (Mali), which we saw in La Mercè a couple of years ago, have staged the ties between the Caribbean island with the black continent. Both will present his work in the EP 'At Home' on November 8 in the Barts club.

Other artists performing in the same place are the Cuban supergroup Havana (October 30), Richard Galliano and guitarist Sylvain Luc in a tribute to Edith Piaf (November 5), Cécile McLorin Salvant (November 19) and Neneh Cherry in front of Rocketnumbernine, Blank Project (November 25).

Folk
Sam Beam, known by the name Iron & Wine, is a leader in the American folk song and will perform at Barts in a solo acoustic concert on November 7th, 2015.

Previous confirmations.
Diana Krall will be responsible for opening the festival on September 26th in the Auditorium of the Forum. Many well-known artists such as Chick Corea (October 22th) or Maria Schneider Orchestra (November 12th) will perform in the same auditorium.

Other artists who will play at the Barcelona Auditorium (L’Auditori) will be the superquartet Volcano Gonzalo Rubalcaba (November 24th), the Danish Trio Italian pianist Stefano Bollani (November 2th), Mboko Quartet Cuban pianist David Virelles (November 10th), the artistic couple and in real life Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn (November 11th), Young Philadelphians (November 17th), guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel (November 18th) and saxophonist Mark Turner with the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra (Nov. 28th).

At the Liceo Conservatory will play the trio of Danilo Perez, John Patitucci and Brian Blade, who are members of the Wayne Shorter Quartet under the name Children Of The Light (October 28th), Uri Caine Trio (October 20th), Melissa Aldana and Giovanni Guidi, in a double concert entitled Jazz's future (November 4th), Ambrose Akinmusire (November 9th), Antonio Sanchez, author of the soundtrack to the Oscar-winning 'Birdland' (November 16th), Josemi Carmona and Javier Colina (November 27th) and Marco Mezquida with saxophonist Bill McHenry as special guest (November 26th), among other concerts.

Chucho Valdes returns to the festival to visit the outskirts of Barcelona with two own proposals: the premiere of the show 'Family', with his two younger sons, the pianist and Jessie Leyanis drummer in the Sant Cugat Auditorium Theatre (20th November). He will perform in another concert with a piano solo in L’Hospitalet Joventut Theatre (November 22th). According to the promoter of the festival, The Project, Chucho will be the special guest of another concert on November 21, still unannounced.
