The Sunset Jazz Club is scheduled to stop concerts on May 31

The Sunset Jazz Club has announced in a message on its Facebook profile that it plans to stop performing concerts from next May 31. Without mentioning the reasons, the short message says that "after the news we have received the last days, if things do not change much, on May 31 we will do the last concert and the Sunset will stop being what you have known since 2001. "

The club, however, has made it clear in another message that it would stop hosting concerts but it would not close as a club.

The Sunset Jazz Club is a venue with a very active concert schedule, four concerts a week on average –one of the most active in the south of Europe-, focused on jazz, blues and swing. It’s message announcing the cessation of concerts, has received numerous messages of support with calls to action to send letters to the City of Girona.

As published by the newspaper 'El Punt-Avui', the Councilor for Culture of the City of Girona, Carles Ribas, remarks that "the Sunset receives a municipal aid of 12,000 euros per year and only ask them to justify them, like any other public subsidy. In this sense, they can not complain because it is the only bar in Girona that receives this type of help. "
