Pixes is an alternative rock band from Boston, United States. Formed in 1986, the band suffered a break in 1993, returning to the stages eleven years later. Formed by Black Francis, David Lovering, Joey Santiago and Paz Lenchantin, Pixies achieved its greatest recognition in Europe, becoming one of the most influential bands of alternative rock. Even Kurt Cobain, unconditional of the band, admitted the influence that the Pixies had on Nirvana. His unique style set a precedent for all subsequent bands of the grunge and alternative scene of the early 1990s that adopted the soft melodies combined with shouts and distorted guitars that characterize the band.
