The biggest party in Barcelona will take place from Friday 22 to Monday 25 September. The Icelandic capital, Reykjavik, is the city invited to the festivities in 2017.
The upcoming Barcelona parties, La Mercè 2017, will take place from Friday 22 to Monday 25 September. The invited city this year is Reykjavík.
The capital of Iceland is full of musical talent and much of it will be seen and heard in Barcelona. Some of these artists had already performed at Sónar 2013, also dedicated to the Nordic country.
The eight musical proposals that will perform at BAM, on its 25th anniversary, are Kiasmos (Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen), multi-instrumentalist JFDR, Samaris electronics (image of their performance at Sónar 2013), the female hip hop group Reykjavíkurdaetur, hip hop by Emmsjé Gauti, Ólöf Arnalds' violin, Glowie's pop and the uniqueness of Grisalappalísa playing from rock to krautrock.
For its part, Mercè Music has programmed the performance of the mezzo-soprano Gudrún Ólafsdóttir accompanied by the OBC, directed by Kazushi Ono, in a park of Nou Barris (northern Barcelona’s neighbourhood), interpreting works like Guillermo Tell, of Rossini; A fragment of the Berlioz Roman Carnival or well-known parts of Bizet and Nordic authors such as the Norwegian Edvard Grieg.
The bill of the 2017 parties has been made by Barcelona designer Mariscal, on the 25th anniversary of the Olympic Games.
