The Sónar has announced the complete program for its 25th edition. To all the artists and groups previously added like Thom Yorke, Gorillaz, LCD Soundsystem, Diplo or Richie Hawtin, you have to add DESPACIO.

It is a project of "high fidelity" clubbing with 7 speakers towers forming a circle, creating a surrounding sound. The sets will be 3 hours, only vinyls, and the protagonists will be the music and the audience.

Update at 1:48 p.m. on 01/23/2018

Sónar has just announced a new round of groups and artists confirmed for its 25th edition: Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Rosalía premiering new album and sound, Diplo, Laurent Garnier, Niño de Elche with dancer Israel Galván, Yung Lean, Kampire & Diplo, Ben Klock & Dj Nobu, Fatima Al Qadiri, Alva Noto, Modeselektor Dj set ...

Thom Yorke, leader of Radiohead, will review his career with producer Nigel Godrich and multidisciplinary artist Tarik Barri, who will be in charge of an impressive visual device on Thursday, June 16.

Sónar will approach flamenco with the premiere of Rosalía's new album and sound that promises to surprise the audience. On the other hand, 'cantaor' Niño de Elche, a regular at the festival alone or with Los Voluble, will present a very transgressive show with dancer Israel Galván.

On the other hand, Refrëe, guitarist of Rosalía on the album 'Los Ángeles', will explore her philias for the electronics accompanied by a visual show created by the experimental film director Isaki Lacuesta.

Other premieres that will be presented at Sónar are Henry Saiz accompanied by a band to present 'Human' and Oscar Mulero, with their 'Monochrome' project.

Within the sets of Sónar by Night highlights Laurent Garnier playing only his own repertoire and remixes or Diplo presenting his favorite emerging African artists such as Distruction Boyz (South Africa), Mr EAZI (Nigeria) and Kampire (Uganda).

As it was done last year, urban music becomes more important. They will perform at Yung Lean, GoldLink, Oddisee & Good Compny, Dre Skull, King Doudou, Preditah, Joe Kay and Little Simz.

In the XS stage they will act: Chino Amobi (noise), Rosa Pistola (reggaetón) and Nathy Peluso (trap), Russell Haswell (experimental), Rozzma (Arab beats), Putochinomaricón (trap) and MOW (electronic pop).

In the SonarLab, via Resident Advisor, will act Lanark Artefax, Octo Octa, Errorsmith, Fatima Al Qadiri, Motor City Drum Ensemble & Jeremy Underground, Ben Klock & Dj Nobu and DJ Jasss.

At the Red Bull Academy, Fela Kuti's drummer, Tony Allen, will perform with the funk of a pillar of the genre in Detroit, Amp Fiddler. The stage will also feature the lives of DJ Earl & Nick Hook Live AV, DECISIVE PINK, Claude Speeed, Terrritroy Live and Emma-Jean Thackray's Walrus.

The Sónar by Night will also feature heavyweights such as Modeselektor dj set, A-Trak, Benjamin Damage, the emerging Charlotte de Witte or Bonobo, and the concerts of Cornelius and Alva Noto, Laurel Halo, Agoria, Sinjin Hawke & Zora Jones, Ilpo Väisänen & Schneider TM (under the name of Die Angel) and the Americans Second Woman.

Surely for the organizers of Sónar all editions are special but that of 2018 will be even more, Sónar celebrates 25 years in 2018 and will celebrate it with more than 130 shows from June 14 to 16 in Barcelona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Spain).

The first confirmed ones have already been announced: Gorillaz -which also performs at the BBK Live in Bilbao-, the return of the LCD Soundsystem, the incombustible Richie Hawtin -image, acting at the 2016 dotUp in Badalona- will present its new show 'Close', Bicep, 4-hour outdoor session by Laurent Garnier, Ólafur Arnalds, Rels B, Mueveloreina...

They will also perform: Bonobo, Wiley, Black Coffee, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra + Brad Lubman play Terry Riley: IN C, Helena Hauff, Tony Humphries, Kode9 x Koji Morimoto AV-video game-inspired show, George FitzGerald live, Lorenzo Senni, Daedelus , Maribou State, Studio Barnhus, Denmark, DITC Sound, Jamz Supernova, Francisco Lopez, Jarami, Nidia, Violet x Photonz and Yuzo Koshiro x Motohiro Kawashima live.

On Thursday night there will be a special concert at the Auditori de Barcelona. The Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National of Catalonia will perform the minimalist work 'In C' by Terry Riley conducted by Brad Lubman.

On the other hand, Sónar has sent a message to the stars. "Sónar Calling GJ273b" will send to this star, Luyten B, 33 songs of 10 seconds from next April. The organizers estimate that in case of an answer, it would arrive for the 50th anniversary of the festival. Any creator can participate in this space adventure, it is a project that is open to everyone's participation.

Sónar celebrates 25 years in 2018 and will celebrate it with more than 130 shows.
