Biography

Accept is a seminal German heavy metal band formed in 1976 in Solingen by vocalist Udo Dirkschneider and guitarist Wolf Hoffmann. The band is credited with helping shape the heavy metal genre and laying the foundation for the speed and thrash metal movements that followed. Their music is characterized by driving rhythms, powerful vocals, and blazing guitar solos, establishing them as one of the most influential bands in the heavy metal scene.

The group gained significant attention with their 1981 album Breaker, which showcased their aggressive style and set the stage for future success. Their breakthrough came with the release of Restless and Wild in 1982, which featured the iconic track "Fast as a Shark," often cited as one of the first speed metal songs. The band's 1983 album, Balls to the Wall, further cemented their reputation, with its title track becoming a metal anthem.

Accept went through numerous lineup changes over the years, particularly in the lead vocalist position. Dirkschneider departed from the band multiple times, with American singer Mark Tornillo joining in 2009 and revitalizing Accept’s sound. Tornillo's debut album with the band, Blood of the Nations (2010), was met with critical acclaim and marked a powerful comeback for the group.

Throughout their career, Accept has released over 16 studio albums, influencing a generation of metal musicians and earning a dedicated fan base worldwide. They are known for their energetic live performances and have toured extensively, playing at major festivals and headlining concerts around the globe.
