Biography
Mercedes Cañas, born on April 14, 1996, in Madrid, Spain, is a Spanish singer-songwriter known for her introspective lyrics and emotive sound. Trained in classical music, Cañas studied cello at a conservatory, and she also plays guitar, ukulele, and piano. Her passion for music has been lifelong, having started singing covers and writing her own songs from a young age. She made her official debut in 2019 with the single Tirando a Lila, a track inspired by her summers in Alicante, followed by a second single, Sin Sabor, released that same year.
In 2020, these initial singles, along with new material, culminated in her first album, Desde Aquí. This debut album, a collection of seven tracks, showcased her songwriting ability and featured a blend of personal reflections and melodic instrumentation, solidifying her presence in the Spanish music scene.
After releasing several more singles, Cañas released her second album, Que Entren en mi Cabeza, in 2022. Described by the artist as an album filled with themes of love and personal experience, it includes some of her most popular songs, like Aguamarina and Como Diciembre a Enero. Through these tracks, Cañas invites listeners into her emotional world, making her music both relatable and heartfelt.
With Que Entren en mi Cabeza, Cañas embarked on a tour across Spain, extending her reach to Latin America with performances in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Colombia. Her ability to connect with audiences through her music has expanded her fan base, resonating with listeners in both her home country and internationally.
