Biography

I See Stars is an American electronicore band recognized for their unique fusion of post-hardcore and electronic music elements. Formed in Warren, Michigan in 2006, the band’s lineup originally included vocalist Devin Oliver, guitarist Brent Allen, keyboardist and programmer Andrew Oliver, and bassist Jeff Valentine. With influences ranging from metalcore to electronic dance music (EDM), I See Stars pioneered a genre-blending style that helped establish them as a significant presence in the electronicore scene.

The band’s debut album, 3-D, was released in 2009, marking I See Stars as early adopters of electronicore—a style that combines heavy guitar riffs and breakdowns with synth-driven melodies and electronic effects. The album gained critical and commercial attention, particularly for tracks like "The Common Hours" and "What This Means to Me." Their following albums, The End of the World Party (2011) and Digital Renegade (2012), continued to evolve their sound, incorporating heavier breakdowns alongside EDM-inspired drops, while introducing more introspective and complex lyrics.

In 2013, New Demons showcased a heavier, more aggressive approach, while still maintaining their electronic flair. This album solidified their status within the electronicore genre, earning a loyal fanbase drawn to the dynamic energy of their music and the emotionally charged themes they explored. However, their sound took a new direction with Treehouse in 2016, where the band embraced a more mature and melodic tone, stripping back some of the electronic elements for a more refined post-hardcore sound.

I See Stars has toured extensively, sharing stages with bands across various genres, from hardcore to pop-punk, further amplifying their influence and versatility. Known for their energetic live performances and boundary-pushing music, I See Stars continues to evolve, blending genres in fresh ways and remaining influential in the modern rock and electronic music landscapes.
