Jacob Collier is a British multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, and producer celebrated for his complex harmonies, innovative arrangements, and genre-blending music. He initially gained widespread recognition in 2011 through his YouTube channel, where he posted intricate cover songs, performing each instrument and layering vocal harmonies with remarkable precision. His cover of Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" quickly went viral, showcasing his inventive approach to harmony and rhythm.

Collier’s debut album, In My Room, released in 2016, was a self-produced project recorded entirely in his bedroom. The album featured a mix of original songs and covers, displaying his prodigious skills across jazz, pop, and R&B. In My Room earned him two Grammy Awards and solidified his reputation as one of the most talented young musicians of his generation. His music’s distinct style combines jazz, classical, R&B, gospel, and folk influences, often using microtonality, polyrhythms, and unconventional harmonic structures that push the boundaries of traditional music theory.

Collier’s ambitious project Djesse, a four-volume series released from 2018 onward, features collaborations with artists like Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, and Mahalia. The Djesse albums explore various musical genres, from orchestral compositions to a cappella harmonies and world music influences. Djesse Vol. 3 earned him his first Grammy for Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocals, while Djesse Vol. 2 received critical acclaim for its intricate layering and diverse musical palette.

Renowned for his live performances, Collier frequently uses a custom-designed setup that allows him to perform multiple parts simultaneously, creating a dynamic and immersive experience.
