Biography
Curses is a Berlin-based musical project led by Luca Venezia (vocals and guitar) and Dame Bonnet (bass), known for its brooding fusion of 1980s darkwave, post-punk, and the intensity of electronic body music (EBM). With a sound steeped in haunting, reverb-heavy guitar and pulsing basslines, Curses channels both the melancholy of gothic pop and the raw, DIY energy of early EBM. Since its formation, the duo has released two albums under the Dischi Autunno label, gaining recognition for its unique blending of dark romance and electronic intensity.
Their artistry extends beyond music into the world of fashion, where they’ve collaborated with iconic brands like Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Raf Simons, and Dior, contributing tracks to high-profile campaigns. A limited-edition LP released in partnership with Saint Laurent further solidified their standing at the intersection of music and style.
Curses’ live performances are atmospheric and spontaneous, often weaving experimental elements and free-form jamming inspired by early krautrock. Venezia’s spectral vocals and guitar layers mix with Bonnet’s driving basslines and metallic E-drum snares, bringing an unrepeatable dynamism to every show. The duo has shared stages with influential wave and EBM acts such as Nitzer Ebb, Alessandro Cortini, and Tempers, further embedding their place in the gothic and post-punk revival scenes.
Their tours have taken them to major clubs and festivals across the globe, with standout appearances at Nuits Sonores in Lyon, Ombra Festival in Barcelona, Convenanza in Carcassonne, and the legendary Berghain Kantine in Berlin. Currently, Curses is crafting a new album that promises even more ghostly guitars and haunting vocals, pushing further into the realms of darkwave and post-punk innovation.
