Biography
Slomosa is a Norwegian band from Bergen, known for pioneering a genre they describe as "tundra rock," blending elements of stoner rock, heavy rock, and grunge with a distinctly Scandinavian feel. Formed in 2017, the band consists of vocalist and guitarist Benjamin Berdous, guitarist Marie Moe, bassist Torbjørn Børresen, and drummer Severin Sandvik. They have drawn significant attention in Europe and beyond for their powerful, down-tempo sound and heavy riffs reminiscent of classic desert rock but with a Nordic twist.
Slomosa’s self-titled debut album, released in 2020, became a breakthrough, receiving high praise for its raw energy and authentic vibe. Tracks like "There is Nothing New Under the Sun" and "Horses" became standout hits, showcasing the band’s ability to balance heavy guitar lines with haunting vocals, capturing the essence of vast, barren landscapes akin to the American Southwest but in the chilling beauty of Norway's tundras.
The band’s live performances are celebrated for their intense and immersive atmosphere, drawing fans of both stoner rock and grunge. Slomosa has quickly risen to prominence within the European rock scene, earning festival spots and attracting a devoted following across Scandinavia and beyond. Their music combines influences from bands like Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age with a unique northern twist, resonating with fans of the genre while establishing their own distinct sound.
Slomosa continues to work on new music, building on the foundation they laid with their debut album. The band has become a symbol of the Nordic stoner rock movement, and with their powerful sound, they are well-poised to influence the genre’s evolution for years to come.
