Biography

Troubadour Blue is an American trio blending modern bluegrass, country, and Americana into a sound described as “backwoods moonshine cut with pure Nashville gold.” Formed in 2019, the band consists of siblings Brenna and Eli Wheeler, both Nashville natives, and Daniel Kim Ethridge, a Texas-born songwriter raised in Long Beach, California. The group’s roots trace back to their time at Belmont University, where Daniel and Brenna first met as members of the Belmont Bluegrass Ensemble.

The idea for Troubadour Blue emerged as Daniel and Brenna sought a creative outlet with full artistic control, stepping away from Nashville’s session scene. The project solidified during the pandemic, when Eli Wheeler joined the lineup after graduating from Elon University, completing the trio’s signature sound.

Known for their raw, narrative-driven songwriting, Daniel and Brenna craft lyrics rooted in honesty, exploring themes of love, loss, and longing. Their voices blend with Eli’s to form rich three-part harmonies, while the band’s instrumentation—featuring acoustic guitar, fiddle, and dynamic string arrangements—brings their stories to life.

In February 2024, Troubadour Blue released their debut album, Shadow of a Doubt, produced by Grammy Award-winning musician Tammy Rogers King of The SteelDrivers and engineered by Mitch Furr. The album showcases their fusion of traditional country storytelling and contemporary Americana.

The band has performed at iconic venues such as the historic Ryman Auditorium and the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, and has appeared at the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival. They have toured with The Red Clay Strays and The SteelDrivers, and one of their songs was featured on HGTV’s 100 Dream Home. Due to audience demand, they released a live recording, Troubadour Blue Live, in summer 2022.

In 2024 and 2025, they released a series of singles, including “Alabama Angel” featuring legendary dobro player Jerry Douglas, as well as reimagined versions of “Hush” and “Drinkin’s Good.” In summer 2025, they unveiled “Mountain Dew” and “Heathen,” the title track of their upcoming EP, set for release in Fall 2025.

With a growing reputation for emotional depth and musical authenticity, Troubadour Blue continues to establish itself as a vital new voice in the American roots music landscape.
