Biography
The Tallest Man On Earth, the stage name of Swedish musician Kristian Matsson, has emerged as a prominent figure in Scandinavian folk music. His third album, There’s No Leaving Now (2012), solidified his reputation, building on the acclaim of his debut, Shallow Grave (2008). Matsson's early work drew favorable comparisons to Bob Dylan, but instead of leaning into the eccentricities of "weird" folk, he focused on crafting melodies with direct emotional impact.

Shallow Grave featured harmonica and acoustic guitar, bridging traditional folk elements with a modern sensibility. His follow-up, The Wild Hunt (2010), broadened his audience and brought him chart success. Matsson's most personal work to date is Dark Bird Is Home (2015), an album recorded with a full band that marked a departure from his previous solo efforts. The album, conceived during a period of personal upheaval following his divorce, has drawn comparisons to Dylan's Blood on the Tracks.

In 2018, Matsson embarked on the project When The Bird Sees The Solid Ground, releasing a series of five songs over several months, each accompanied by a self-directed video. This project included tracks like "An Ocean," "Somewhere In The Mountains, Somewhere In New York," "Forever Is A Very Long Time," "Down In My Heart," and "I Won’t Sing No More."
