Biography

The Driver Era is an American music duo composed of brothers Rocky and Ross Lynch, former members of the band R5.

History
Formation and Early Releases (2018–2019):
On March 1, 2018, the members of R5 rebranded their social media presence as The Driver Era, with Ross Lynch announcing that the new band would consist of him and his brother Rocky. Their debut single, "Preacher Man," was released on March 16, 2018, and received positive feedback from the alternative and indie music communities. The duo followed up with other singles throughout 2018, including "Afterglow" and "Low." "Low" marked the first time Rocky took on lead vocals for a single.

Debut Album and Continued Success (2019–2021):
The Driver Era released their debut album, X, on June 28, 2019, featuring previously released singles and new tracks. In 2020, they continued to release new music, including the singles "OMG Plz Don’t Come Around" and "Flashdrive," as they prepared for their second studio album. Due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the album was postponed. In April 2021, the band began releasing singles from their second album, Girlfriend, which was supported by "The Girlfriend Tour," spanning the US, Asia, Australia, and Europe through 2021 and 2022.

Recent Projects (2022–present):
In 2022, The Driver Era released the singles "Keep Moving Forward" featuring Nikka Costa and "Malibu." They announced their third studio album, Summer Mixtape, which was released on September 16, 2022.
