Biography
Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts is an American rock band based in Nashville, Tennessee. The band, led by frontman Tuk Smith, was formed after the dissolution of Smith's previous band, the Atlanta-based rock group Biters. Known for their hard-hitting rock sound with a modern twist, Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts quickly gained attention in the rock music scene, particularly with their debut single, “What Kinda Love,” which was released on January 10, 2020.
On the same day their debut single was released, Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts received a major opportunity by being added as an opening act for The Stadium Tour, headlined by legendary rock bands Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe. The tour was set to be one of the largest rock events of the year, and the band’s inclusion marked a significant milestone in their early career. However, the COVID-19 pandemic led to the postponement of the tour and delayed the release of the band's debut album, Lookin' For Love, Ready For War, which was initially set to launch in 2020 through Better Noise Music.
Amid the uncertainties brought by the pandemic, Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts parted ways with Better Noise Music, and their anticipated debut album was shelved. Despite these setbacks, the band continued to push forward, eventually signing with a new label, Music Recording Group (MRG). Under MRG, they released their debut album, Ballad of a Misspent Youth, in November 2022. The album, which showcases their energetic blend of rock ‘n’ roll influences, received positive reviews from fans and critics alike.
In 2023, Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts parted ways with MRG. Undeterred, Tuk Smith decided to take a more independent approach to his music career by founding his own record label, Gypsy Rose Records. Through this new venture, the band released their second full-length album, Rogue to Redemption, on August 30, 2024. This album marked a new chapter for the band, featuring a collection of songs that reflect both personal growth and the relentless spirit of rock music.
Over the course of their career, Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts have seen several changes in their lineup. The current members include Tuk Smith on vocals and guitar, Tobin Dale on guitar, Matthew Curtis on bass, and Nigel Dupree on drums. Former members include guitarist Ricky Dover Jr. and bassist Shane Rickerson.
The band’s discography includes several singles, such as “Lookin’ for Love, Ready for War” (2020), “Ballad of a Misspent Youth” (2022), and “Blood on the Stage” (2024), among others. They also released an EP, What Kinda Love, in March 2020. Their debut album, Ballad of a Misspent Youth, was followed by their second album, Rogue to Redemption, which further solidified their place in the rock scene.
Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts continue to tour and release music, embodying the essence of modern rock with a nod to classic influences. With a blend of tenacity and independence, Tuk Smith's vision for the band remains strong as they forge ahead in the ever-evolving landscape of rock music.
