From July 17 to 26, Barcelona’s Poble-sec neighbourhood will host ten days of concerts, popular culture, street activities and community events, highlighted by performances from Svetlana, La Otra and a free showcase at Apolo.

One of Barcelona’s most vibrant neighbourhood celebrations returns this summer as the Festa Major del Poble-sec 2026 takes over streets, squares and community spaces across the district from July 17 to 26. Combining grassroots culture, live music, traditional festivities and neighbourhood participation, the festival once again transforms Poble-sec into a lively meeting point for residents and visitors alike.

Over ten days, the programme will feature concerts, giant parades, sardanas, community dinners, sports activities, circus performances, DJ sessions and the traditional correfoc, reinforcing the neighbourhood's reputation as one of Barcelona’s most active cultural communities.

Music takes over the neighbourhood
Live music remains one of the central pillars of the festival. The main concert programme, Sec a Sac, will once again be hosted at the Jardins de les Tres Xemeneies, offering free performances across two nights.

The opening celebration on July 18 will feature Catalan electropop sensation Svetlana, whose irreverent and energetic live shows have made them one of the most talked-about acts in the region. They will be joined by ska band Sybarites and a late-night set from DJ Perla Negra.

The following evening, the festival continues with La Otra band, known for its improvisation, alongside Maleza and a closing session by DJ Hijas de la Cumbia, bringing Latin American rhythms into the heart of the neighbourhood.

Beyond the main stage, numerous community organisations will curate their own musical programmes. The Cultmusic space on Carrer de Blesa will host performances by Los Toros and Frank Furillo, while the Koska Taverna Music Cycle welcomes funk and soul specialist Vichente Funk and Soul Edits. Other local stages will feature performances by Els Kimura, Formigó Band, Els Turqueses and several emerging artists connected to neighbourhood cultural associations.

Free concerts at Apolo
One of the highlights of this year's edition will be the free concert series hosted by the legendary Sala Apolo on July 26. The venue will open its doors for a special programme featuring 2machines, Laura Elle, Tukki LaRola and Kinetika, offering festival-goers the opportunity to experience emerging talent inside one of Barcelona’s most iconic live music venues.

Giants, fire and neighbourhood traditions
The Festa Major is also deeply rooted in Catalan popular culture. On July 19, the Geganters i Grallers del Poble-sec will lead the traditional giant parade through the neighbourhood, bringing together residents of all ages around one of the most cherished symbols of local festivities.

Traditional activities continue throughout the week with sardana dancing, tai chi workshops, community gatherings and sporting events, including the popular Poble-sec Run.

The celebrations reach their most spectacular point during the final weekend. On July 26, the neighbourhood hosts both the children’s correfoc and the adult correfoc, accompanied by a large tabalada procession of drummers. Fire, percussion and giant mythical creatures will once again fill the streets in one of the most anticipated moments of the entire festival.

A festival built by the community
Unlike many large-scale urban festivals, the Festa Major del Poble-sec remains strongly connected to local associations, cultural groups and neighbourhood initiatives. Activities are organised by dozens of community organisations that transform squares such as Plaça de Santa Madrona, Plaça del Sortidor, Plaça de Las Navas, Plaça de Valeri Powles and the Jardins de les Tres Xemeneies into spaces for celebration, participation and cultural exchange.

This community-driven spirit is reflected in events ranging from Celtic music performances by Aires Celtas to community dinners, board game nights, circus activities, cumbia parties and intercultural concerts.

Closing with fireworks
After ten days of music, culture and neighbourhood celebrations, the Festa Major del Poble-sec 2026 will conclude on July 26 with a traditional fireworks display at the Jardins de les Tres Xemeneies, bringing another memorable edition of one of Barcelona’s most authentic and community-focused local festivals to a close.

Barcelona’s Festa Major del Poble-sec 2026 returns with ten days of free concerts, giant parades, correfocs and community celebrations, featuring artists such as Svetlana, La Otra and a special free concert series at Sala Apolo.
