Barcelona’s Festa Major de Sants returns from August 22 to 30, 2026, turning one of the city’s most strongly rooted neighbourhood celebrations into a huge network of outdoor stages. Eleven streets and squares will be decorated by local commissions, while concerts, DJ sessions, rumba, punk, rock, electronic music, folk and traditional sounds will run throughout the week. The festivities begin with the traditional parade and an opening speech by actress, screenwriter and director Leticia Dolera at Parc de l’Espanya Industrial.
Unlike a conventional festival, Sants has no single musical centre. Much of its character comes from the programmes created independently by each decorated street, producing a bill that jumps constantly between local bands, tribute acts, emerging artists, DJs and long-established names. The neighbourhood’s official programme also includes larger concerts at Parc de l’Espanya Industrial and an especially busy music schedule organised by the Castellers de Sants.
One of the main official concert nights arrives on Tuesday, August 25, at Parc de l’Espanya Industrial. Local rumba project Set de Rumba will perform earlier in the evening, before a late-night bill featuring Juny del 99, veteran cover band Mala Vida and a DJ set. Juny del 99 appears through Pedrera 3.0, the district programme supporting young emerging bands from Sants-Montjuïc.
The music continues beyond the official Festa Major dates. On September 5, the Municipal Band of Barcelona will give a Festa Major concert at Parc de l’Espanya Industrial, followed at Cotxeres de Sants by a special concert marking the 125th anniversary of the Orfeó de Sants, featuring participatory performances of Vivaldi’s Gloria and Magnificat.
Fades, Miquel del Roig and Al·lèrgiques al Pol·len with the Castellers
The programme organised by the Castellers de Sants is effectively a festival within the festival. Their space will host music almost every night, beginning on August 22 with a gralla dance by Els Quatrevents and DJ Trapella.
On Monday 24, Fades bring their pop-urban sound alongside electronic-pop artist Llum. The following evening will feature Préssecks, while August 26 pairs popular Catalan singer-songwriter Miquel del Roig with DJ Coronitas. Lasta Sanco and Les que faltaband take over on Thursday before one of the week’s strongest local bills on Friday 28: Bons Nois, Al·lèrgiques al Pol·len and 2 de Pega.
The Castellers programme closes on Saturday 29 with KM.0, SDP509 and PlanB, following the traditional human-tower performance and walking pillar from Plaça de Bonet i Muixí to Parc de l’Espanya Industrial.
Guadiana mixes electrocumbia, punk and rock
Carrer Guadiana will be one of the most musically diverse streets of the 2026 Festa Major. Its opening night on August 22 combines Derrumbaos, pop-rock group La Tour de Carol and a late DJ session by Las Supremas de Sants. Sunday shifts towards rumba and drag performances, while Wednesday’s Guadiana Salsera brings salsa into the street before La Porteña y los Piratas perform their electrocumbia set.
Thursday is dedicated entirely to electronic music led by women, with Motmot, Yasmina Karrum, Natalia Lazcano and Afroditta behind the decks. Friday changes direction completely with Guadiana Rocks: Engels bring hard rock, Vatua perform Catalan rock and Enemigo Público deliver a late punk set.
The final Saturday then turns psychedelic and rumbero with Nauta Loops and El Persianas y los Influencers Muertos before DJ Alcer closes the night.
Joan Colomo, pop-rock and queer nightlife on Sagunt
Carrer Sagunt has put together another unusually eclectic programme. The opening Saturday features Katta Lana & Brauer, described by the organisers as Berlin club music in Catalan, while Sunday includes Xana Blue and a DJ set from Ferran Lonou of Fades.
Later in the week, Garrafa Nadal and Gatefold provide a double pop-rock concert on Thursday. Friday moves into a more festive club atmosphere with PD Xarxacat and Allioli Olé!, while Saturday offers one of the street programme’s most interesting closers: folk dancing with Calcetes Tradis followed by Joan Colomo i la Ràdiofórmula, performing what the programme calls “impossible versions”.
Punk, ska and rock at Vallespir
The two sections of Carrer Vallespir will also be heavily focused on live music. Vallespir de Baix will host The Red Tide and The Cabrians, the latter giving an anniversary concert on August 26. Friday 28 is devoted to punk with Insershow, Ratpenat and Mean Machine, before Saturday closes with rumba and Wiwi Rock Band.
At Vallespir de Dalt, the programme moves from Queen tribute act Queen for a Day to emerging rock bands Los Mals Menors and Rates Locals. Later nights include Afro-Latin sounds, funk from Powafunk, rumba with Alma de Boquerón, and a final Saturday dedicated to rock with Peter Fields, Robin Surf and Rock the Night.
Rumba remains at the heart of Sants
Rumba runs through much of the Festa Major. Carrer Valladolid starts its programme with Alma de Pato, a tribute to Gato Pérez by Todos los Gatos and GipsyIvan, before moving through Springsteen-themed rock, samba, Argentine music and a closing night featuring El Sobrino del Diablo and Salsa Punk Orquestra.
Alcolea de Dalt will feature La Trinxera, Las Jaranas, Albert Nieto & David Miullon, Miquel Cubero and Tracks Bar, while Alcolea de Baix mixes swing, Latin rhythms, DJs and live percussion. Finlàndia celebrates the street commission’s 45th anniversary with Diego Ménez, before later nights featuring Port Bo, La Rockpública and Jester.
Plaça de la Farga adds another substantial series of concerts, including Mind Trick, Rocking Horse, Trambólicos, La Montecarlo, Guaracheando Latin Group, Etèria and another appearance by Mala Vida, alongside several DJ sessions and dance events.
Papin, meanwhile, ranges from local bands Babia and Whitehole to neighbourhood punk group Tifus, Pascual & els Desnatats and the all-female repertoire of Femme Versions, whose show revisits hits associated with artists ranging from Rosalía and Jennifer Lopez to Les Ketchup, La Oreja de Van Gogh and Raffaella Carrà.
The Festa Major will finally wind down on Sunday, August 30, with the traditional closing piromusical at Parc de l’Espanya Industrial. Throughout the nine days, music on weekdays will generally finish at 2 am, while Friday and Saturday celebrations can continue until 3 am, part of the neighbourhood’s attempt to balance its famously intense street party with residents’ right to rest.
With dozens of concerts spread across streets rather than concentrated behind festival gates, Festa Major de Sants 2026 once again offers something that is becoming increasingly rare in Barcelona: a large free music programme built largely by neighbourhood associations themselves, where a punk gig, Catalan rumba, club electronics, a brass band and a communal dinner can all happen a few metres apart.
Nine days of free live music will spread across decorated streets, neighbourhood squares and Parc de l’Espanya Industrial.
