Esplugues de Llobregat is getting ready for its Festa Major de Sant Mateu 2026, which will take place from September 18 to 21. Live music will once again play a central role in the celebrations, with the main stage on Avinguda de Jacint Esteva i Fontanet hosting concerts throughout the weekend.
The programme opens strongly on Friday, September 18, with Sidonie, one of the longest-running and most recognisable bands on the Spanish indie scene. The Barcelona group will bring to Esplugues a set combining songs from its recent releases with some of the best-known tracks from a career stretching back more than two decades.
The same night will also feature Orquesta Mondragón, the legendary band led by Javier Gurruchaga. Music, theatre and humour have always been inseparable parts of the group's identity, and their Festa Major performance will revisit a repertoire that has made them one of the most distinctive acts in Spanish pop and rock.
Saturday's programme will begin with Músics de Carrer, presenting a tribute to Txarango. The show will recover the songs and festive spirit of a band whose mixture of reggae, ska and Latin and Mediterranean rhythms became a soundtrack for an entire generation of Catalan festival-goers.
Also performing on Saturday, September 19, will be Suu, one of the established voices of the contemporary Catalan pop scene. Her concert will bring a more melodic and intimate side to the programme before DJ Bulma Beat takes control of the stage and keeps the Festa Major going into the night.
One of the weekend's biggest parties is reserved for Sunday, September 20, when Doctor Prats perform at the main stage. The Terrassa band have built their reputation around an energetic combination of pop, electronic music and festive rhythms designed for large crowds. Their Esplugues show will include some of their best-known songs, including “Energia”, selected as the official song of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France.
The Festa Major will also make room for its youngest audience. On Monday, September 21, Rock per Xics will perform at the covered court of Parc Pou d’en Fèlix. The group adapts the energy and language of a rock concert to a family setting, giving children the chance to experience live guitars and a full band show during the local holiday.
