Primavera Sound marks 25 years with Doechii, Phoebe Bridgers, Pavement, Massive Attack and Robyn

The Barcelona festival unveils a huge 151-act anniversary line-up also featuring Fontaines D.C., FKA twigs, The Chemical Brothers, Turnstile, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Bad Gyal and a Skrillex B2B Ninajirachi closing set

Primavera Sound has unveiled the line-up for its 25th anniversary, setting up one of the biggest editions in the Barcelona festival’s history. The celebrations will take place at Parc del Fòrum from June 2 to 6, 2027, including the traditional free opening day and a Sunday electronic finale, while the wider Primavera a la Ciutat programme is still to be announced.

At the top of the bill is Doechii, who will make her first appearance in Spain, alongside Phoebe Bridgers, Fontaines D.C., Hayley Williams, FKA twigs, Turnstile, Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers, Robyn, Bad Gyal, Lola Young, ADÉLA, Caroline Polachek and Prospa. Massive Attack’s booking carries some unfinished business: after their planned Primavera appearances in 2022 and 2026 were cancelled, the Bristol group are once again scheduled to make their long-awaited debut at the Barcelona festival.

The anniversary also brings Pavement back to Primavera Sound, joined by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Tinashe, Underworld, EsDeeKid, Kim Petras, Bleachers, ANOHNI, Angine de Poitrine, Metronomy, JT, Arca, Isaiah Rashad, Wallows, Theodora, Snow Strippers, BICEP, Shygirl, Dinosaur Jr., underscores, Chvrches, Brutalismus 3000 B2B ISOxo, MUNA, Metrika, Boy Harsher, Akrilla, Pablopablo, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Vashti Bunyan, Weyes Blood, Julien Baker, Joy Orbison, Converge and Atlas Sound.

The programme goes considerably deeper than its largest names. DIIV, Have a Nice Life, Mushka, Erin LeCount, ABHIR, Santiago Motorizado, Greg Freeman, Juana Molina, Haute & Freddy, English Teacher, Sophia Stel, Westside Cowboy, Racing Mount Pleasant, EAR, Castle Rat, Friko, Lip Critic, Gilla Band, Alcalá Norte, @, Jersey, Los Punsetes, Kelsey Lu, Alemeda, Viva Belgrado, John Talabot, Full of Hell, Mabe Fratti, Dame Area, Dove Ellis, Guillem Gisbert, Rebe, Mishima, Don Caballero, Jesu and Simian Mobile Disco are also part of the main announcement.

One of the defining features of the 2027 bill is again the prominence of women across virtually every part of the programme, from Doechii, Phoebe Bridgers, Hayley Williams, FKA twigs and Robyn to Caroline Polachek, Tinashe, Kim Petras, Arca, Weyes Blood and Bad Gyal. The festival says gender representation is once again balanced, continuing a policy that has become a central part of Primavera Sound’s programming identity.

The electronic side is characteristically enormous. In addition to The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, BICEP, Joy Orbison and Prospa, the lower reaches of the poster include Aeronavе Adolescente, Álex vs Álex, Al·lèrgiques al Pol·len, Andy Stott Live, Axolotes Mexicanos, Boygirl, Bae Bae, Bashkka B2B MIIKE, Servito, Blackhaine, Blanco Palamera, Blaïa, Carlos de Jacoba & Ciutat, Carmen Villain Live, Carré, Dani Dicostas, Decoder, Dulce, Eden Aurelius, El Buen Hijo, Fades, DJ Fra and Gazella.

Also announced are Headache, Ibrahim Alfa Jnr, Irenegarry, Jump Source Live, Klara Lewis, Livwutang B2B Konduku, Loradeniz, Lux Lisbon, Mad Miran B2B DJ Zero, Madra Salach, Malibu, Mark Fell & RP Boo Live, Marta Salogni Live, Memory Palace, Mori, Naone, Napa, Oceanic (Live AV), Perfecto Miserable, Picture Live, PISS, Plo Man and Pole 1 2 3.

The experimental and club programme continues with Polygonia Live, Prostitute, Roly Porter, DJ /Rupture, Sky H1 Live, Sonido, Underground: DNGDNGDNG & Phran, DJ Stingray 313 Live, Tatyana Jane, Tirzah, Tracey, Trickpony, Tristán!, TTSSFU, Twisted Teens, Verushka B2B Acidheaven, Victoryland and Warning. Meanwhile, the festival’s Sunday Primavera Bits takeover will close the anniversary with an eight-hour electronic programme built around Richie Hawtin, Four Tet and Dixon.

Another of the weekend’s notable collaborations comes from Skrillex B2B Ninajirachi, billed as the festival’s closing set. The pairing places one of electronic music’s biggest names alongside the Australian producer, while the rest of the poster ranges freely between hip-hop, hardcore, indie rock, metal, experimental electronics, pop, jazz and club music — the stylistic sprawl that has long defined Primavera.

The Catalan and Spanish scenes are represented throughout the bill rather than isolated into a separate strand. Bad Gyal, Mushka, Metrika, Pablopablo, Alcalá Norte, Los Punsetes, Viva Belgrado, Dame Area, Guillem Gisbert, Rebe, Mishima, Axolotes Mexicanos, Al·lèrgiques al Pol·len, Blanco Palamera, Carlos de Jacoba & Ciutat, Irenegarry and others will share the programme with the festival’s extensive international contingent.

Primavera Sound’s anniversary also looks backwards as well as forwards. The poster itself revives the logo of the festival’s first edition, while the booking of artists such as Pavement sits alongside some of the most prominent new names of the moment. Twenty-five years after its beginnings, the event has grown from an independent Barcelona festival into one of Europe’s major music gatherings without abandoning the eclectic programming that originally distinguished it.

Tickets will initially be available through a Fan Sale, with registration open until midnight on October 7. Registered fans will be able to buy general passes for €295 plus fees from October 8, while the general sale opens on October 9 at 11:00, with standard passes priced at €350 plus fees. VIP passes are priced at €545 plus fees.

With 151 names already announced and the parallel city programme still to come, Primavera Sound’s quarter-century edition is shaping up as a particularly dense celebration of the festival’s history and present. From Doechii, Phoebe Bridgers and Fontaines D.C. to Pavement, Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers, Robyn, Turnstile and FKA twigs, the 2027 poster deliberately puts different generations and scenes on the same bill — much as Primavera Sound has done throughout its first 25 years.
