ArcTanGent Festival has unveiled the first wave of artists for its 2027 edition, marking the beginning of a new era for one of the UK's most distinctive experimental rock and metal events. After years at Fernhill Farm, the festival will relocate to Todenham Manor Farm, near Moreton-in-Marsh in Gloucestershire, where it will take place from August 18 to 21, 2027.
The announcement is led by two major names making their first appearances at ArcTanGent. American progressive death metal band Blood Incantation will headline Thursday, August 19, while influential post-metal pioneers Neurosis will headline Saturday, August 21. The latter's appearance follows their return to live performances with Aaron Turner on vocals and the release of An Undying Love For A Burning World. The Friday headliner has yet to be revealed.
The first wave also features French psychedelic rock trio SLIFT, German progressive post-metal band The Ocean, Italian doom metal group Messa, British heavyweights Conjurer, American atmospheric rock outfit Holy Fawn, Danish blackgaze band MØL and Belgian progressive post-metal group Psychonaut. Other highlights include Lowen, If These Trees Could Talk, Crown Lands, Sadness, Smote and A Forest of Stars, reflecting the festival's characteristic combination of post-rock, progressive metal, doom, blackgaze and experimental music.
Two special performances will add to the occasion. The Wildhearts are preparing an exclusive progressive rock set specifically for ArcTanGent, while Employed To Serve will celebrate the tenth anniversary of their album The Warmth Of A Dying Sun by performing it in full. Icelandic band Múr, forced to withdraw from the 2026 edition because of travel difficulties, will also return to the programme in 2027.
More than 40 bands confirmed for ArcTanGent's new home
Beyond the headline names, the announcement includes Catholics, Concrete Ships, Cowboyy, Crash of Rhinos, details, Drearleader, Din of Celestial Birds, Every Hell, IAN, Long Distance Runner, L.O.E., Machukha, Million Moons, Mountainscape, Other Half, Pancho, Remote Viewing, Ronker, Sans Froid, Thank, Travo, Urzah, Victor Villarreal, WORN OUT and Zatokrev.
Several of these artists will perform on Wednesday, August 18, the festival's early-entry day, which will bring back notable acts from previous editions. Among those confirmed for Wednesday are Conjurer, MØL, Psychonaut, Din of Celestial Birds, IAN, L.O.E., Ronker, WORN OUT and Zatokrev, offering four-day ticket holders an additional programme before the main festival begins.
The move to Gloucestershire represents a significant change for ArcTanGent, which has developed a devoted international following through its focus on technically adventurous, atmospheric and often unconventional heavy music. Festival organiser James Scarlett described Neurosis and Blood Incantation as two of the event's most requested headliners, presenting their appearances as the ideal way to launch its new chapter in the Cotswolds.
With more announcements still to come, including the Friday headliner, ArcTanGent 2027 is already shaping up as a major gathering for fans of progressive, experimental and underground heavy music. The festival will take place from August 18 to 21 at Todenham Manor Farm, with tickets available through the official ArcTanGent website
