At the end of 2020, Heideroosjes reported back to the front. The seething ’2020, DE TERING’ broke eight years of silence. The new song was intended as a one-time belch, after all, that pandemic would soon be over. Nothing turned out to be less true. And to kill the lockdown and beat the approaching depression, singer Marco Roelofs wrote sharp lyrics and called his band mates again. Those therapeutic sessions eventually resulted in 8 new songs. Which now appear under the title ’INFOCALYPS’. Because total overload of (fake) news turned out to be the overarching theme. And so a sneaky pandemic breathed new life into a veteran punk collective. Not that that life was gone, by the way. In 2019, their 30-year shows sold out in literally 5 minutes. In the same year, De Morgen reviewed “Heideroosjes brought loads of energy... and conquered”. Still, Heideroosjes stopped touring in 2012, after almost 1500 performances throughout Europe, the United States, Japan and South Africa. The band has been operating in the same line-up since 1989. "We spent more than half of our lives together in a van. It is now time for our own things," Marco Roelofs summed up the decision. The band said goodbye with a lap of honor through sold-out pop halls and at festivals such as Lowlands and Sziget. With ten studio albums and a prestigious EDISON in the back pocket.
