::Dreamweapon

Dreamweapon is a minimalist Rock duo that has been heavily active in the experimental music scene in Portugal.

Conceived in 2009 the band has been active and have participated in some of the best and most interesting Music Festivals in Europe and abroad such as: Milhões de Festa de Barcelos, Reverence Valada, and the Liverpool Psychedelic Music Festival.

Portugal’s Dreamweapon take their name from the 1990 Spacemen 3 live album ‘Dreamweapon: An Evening of Contemporary Sitar Music’, who themselves took inspiration from the work of minimalist drone - or ‘Dream Music’ - visionary La Monte Young and a 1965 multimedia piece titled ‘Rites of The Dreamweapon’ by original The Velvet Underground drummer Angus MacLise. Fast-forward to 2018 and Dreamweapon, the band, are continuing to keep the torch burning - perfectly embodying the timeless mantras of less is always more and psychedelia as constantly-evolving pastiche.

Made up of 10,000 Russos bassist Andre Couto, João Campos Costa and Edgar Moreira, dreamweapon emerged in 2009 and have since gone on to release one EP, their debut S/T album and a handful of singles, whilst taking their immersive and unremitting live show around Europe. Made up of four improvised compositions recorded in one take at their Porto practice space, on February 16th dreamweapon will be releasing their sophomore LP ‘SOL’.

The album is being released by the prestiges Fuzz Club of London UK.

::Vymaanika
Vymaanika
began in June 2016 as a meeting between friends who shared the inten- tion to develop something, more than a style, but a way of making music through sonic jams and soundscapes. This original intention coincided with the desire to approach the sonic context of the music with a minimalist approach. the Initiation of the band was the gathering of four musicians and designers from different parts of the world, converging in Barcelona to create sonic experiences and together, mind travel through Vymaanika:

Benjamin Mahoney on guitar and vocals (Sanssoma, former QAA)

Carles Esteban on guitar and vocals (Jinko Vilova, former QAA)

Jose Jünemann on drums and synthesizers (June or July, former Familea Miranda) Lander Besa on bass (Jinko Vilova, Jupiter TV)

Their first record entitled Spectroscope EP consists of two long, mantra style tracks, with elongated notation voices, drums with varied rhythm and at the same time minimalist, sharp guitars, discreet synths and a bass that with the power of a rock bring the whole mix together. The EP has been very well received in Spanish and international media such as Mondo Sonoro, Spitzezungerock, Global Psychedelia and Primalmusic, among others.

Vymaanika debuted officially in 2017, accompanying the mythical Barcelona band “Les Aus” at BeGood concert room. Currently they have been playing in venues such as Side- car, Freedonia and planning tours and their forthcoming LP.

Both groups will be accompanied by the images of visual artist Miguel Zurk with his project Opaaco.  An immaterial stimulator of neuroplasticity. Rambling contradiction between everything a little and nothing in specific.
