Coronavirus turns off live music in Barcelona

A day after the spanish regions Madrid, Álava and La Rioja ordered the ban on events of more than 1,000 people and those who do not reach that number only occupy a third of their capacity, the Generalitat de Catalunya -Catalonia Government- has joined the same initiative to avoid spreading the coronavirus as much as possible. Idea that other European countries like France or Italy had adopted even before.

The cascade of cancellations and closings was immediate and many venues in Barcelona will close from tomorrow, March 12, until the beginning of April. However, the Spanish Government indicates that the crisis can last from two to four months, so it is reasonable to think that the situation will not normalize in 15 days, nor that there will be a cure for Covid-19 - Germany points out this crisis can last for years - consequently, it is difficult for these venues to reopen in just two weeks.

Both the live music sector and the spectators should be prepared for a long “live music winter” unless the concerts change, and much, in the way they are carried out, that is, without any kind of contact between viewers such as concerts broadcast in streaming.

Barcelona

L’Auditori cancels all concerts from March 12 to 26, both included.

Palau de la Música cancels all concerts from March 12 to 26 and also the Choral School concert on March 29.

The Razzmatazz venue has suspended all events, both concerts and parties for the next two weeks and until new information is obtained from the authorities.

Sala Apolo paralyzes its activity, concerts and sessions, for two weeks from tomorrow.

The Jamboree, Moog and Tarantos stop their activity from tomorrow until March 26.

The Luz de Gas venue will cancel all concerts and its sessions from Thursday to Saturday following the restrictions ordered by the Generalitat.

The Liceu has suspended the first session of the Lohengrin opera.

The Cruïlla Festival has announced that it has suspended the concerts of Sopa de Cabra (March 14), Snarky Puppy (March 26) and Fat Freddy Drop (March 27).

India Martínez, 14 Mars at Auditori del Fòrum, postponed to 17 May

The Golferichs Civic Center will continue to offer concerts but with limited seating.

Telecogresca 2020 (Lágrimas de Sangres, Ciudad Jara, Morad, Roba Estesa, Ebri Knight…) 28 Mars at Parc del Fòrum, cancelled

The Monumental Club, in the Plaza de Toros Monumental, cancels its next edition of March 14 dedicated to tropical music.

The Sidecar concert for Víctor Coyote on March 12 has been canceled.

The Laut venue in Poble Sec will close for 15 days.

It is not yet known what will happen to Maluma's concert on March 28 at the Palau Sant Jordi and The Cat Empire the same day at the Sant Jordi Club but it is reasonable to think that they will be canceled.

L’Hospitalet de Llobregat

The Salamandra de L’Hospitalet de Llobregat will close this weekend and the next, there will be no concerts or disco session.

Terrassa

Postponed the 39th Terrassa Jazz Festival, both outdoor activities and concerts at the Nova Jazz Cava.

Manresa

The Stroika confirms the cancellation of Morad (13 Mars) and Reno Renardo (21 Mars).

Badalona

Cancelled the Festival Guitarra Badalona 2020.

Lleida

Canceled the concert of Sachiko Kanenobu on March 14 at the Cafè Teatre Escorxador, within the concert cycle Festival Musiques Disperses.
