Chi Pig, real name Ken Chinn, has died at the age of 57 from unknown causes, according to the announcement of his bandmate, bassist Dave Bacon, on his Facebook profile. The musician was the iconic frontman for Canadian melodic hardcore group S.N.F.U.
Chi was the second in a family of 12 brothers and sisters with a troubled youth. The Sex Pistols were a great impact on his youth, their first group was called Live Sex Shows. In 1981, the group changed its name to S.N.F.U. (Society’s No Fucking Use), being one of the leading skate punk groups in the Vancouver scene.
Chi's intense and eccentric performances, using different types of masks and costumes, became the hallmark of S.N.F.U. during endless tours of the US and Europe featuring albums like '… And No One Else Wanted To Play' (1985), 'If You Swear You'll Catch No Fish' (1986) and 'Better Than A Stick In The Eye’ (1988).
The group broke up in 1989 due to internal problems and returned two years later, publishing works such as ‘The One Voted Most Likely To Succeed’ (1995).
