Live Nation, the global empire of concerts in expansion

Live Nation Entertainment has bought the majority share of the Argentine concert promoter DF Entertainment, 51% of one of the most important independent operators in the southern country, according to 'Billboard'. In this way, it expands its activities in Latin America.

DF Entertainment has sold more than half a million tickets in 2018 in a country with significant growth in the live music sector. The company founded by Diego Finkelstein, besides producing events, also manages ticketing and participates in the shareholding of Argentine concert halls. Although it is only three years old, Finkelstein is one of the pioneers of live music in Argentina. Live Nation, meanwhile, also controls the largest ticketing company, Ticketmaster.

The two companies have collaborated for years on tours of important artists such as Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi... And DF Entertainment has commercialized tickets for Live Nation festivals such as the Lollapalooza Argentina.

The American company has also bought the Swiss concert promoter Mainland Music one year after buying the Openair Frauenfeld festival in the Swiss country and opening Ticketmaster Switzerland. Live Nation will buy it through the company GSA, the German division of Live Nation.

Mainland Music handles about 650 concerts a year in Switzerland, a country where during the summer it seems that each town has its own music festival. The company was founded in 2012 by Christian Gremelmayr, Derrick Thomson, Marc Lambelet, Martin Schrader and Santosh Aerthot. It has offices in Zurich and Lausanne.
