The Paris Opera celebrates 350 years in 2019

The National Opera of Paris will arrive in 2019 at the venerable age of 350 years, inaugurated by Louis XIV on June 28, 1669 under the name of Académie Royal de Musique. Since the nineteenth century has its headquarters in the Palais Garnier. His little sister in age not in size, the ultramodern Opera de la Bastille, was inaugurated in July 1989 by French President François Mitterrand, the bicentenary of the French Revolution, will also turn 30 in 2019. Today, most of the Ballets are represented in the Garnier Palace and the great opera staging in La Bastille.

The programming of this special year, under the title 'Modern since 1669', will be marked by the French composers - from Rameau to Berlioz -, Verdi and the return of René Jacobs. There will be 19 lyrical productions: Bérénice, Les Troyens, The Huguenots, Don Giovanni, Simon Boccanegra, Il Primo Omicidio and Lady Macbeth by Mzensk with scenography by Krzysztof Warlikowski.

The stars of the lyric will not miss this opportunity to pass through Paris: Anna Netrebko (recital), Roberto Alagna (Otello and Carmen), Anja Harteros (La Forza del Destino, Tosca), Sonya Yoncheva (Tosca), Jonas Kaufmann (Tosca), Elina Garanca (Les Troyens), Diana Damrau (The Huguenots) and Ludovic Tézier (Traviata, Simon Boccanegra).

The big gala celebrating this anniversary will actually be two and will take place at the Garnier Palace. On December 31, 2018 with Sonya Yoncheva, Bryan Hymel and Ludovic Tézier, and on May 8, 2019, with soprano Anna Netrebko and tenor Yusif Eyvazov. A show organized to benefit the programming of the anniversary year.
