Mad Cool Festival, one of Europe’s most anticipated music events, has unveiled its lineup for the 2026 edition, set to take place from July 8–11 at the Iberdrola Music venue in Villaverde, Madrid. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the festival is pulling out all the stops with a stellar roster of international and local talent, enhanced infrastructure, and a series of organizational changes designed to improve the attendee experience.
A Decade of Music: Four Days, Four Themes
For its milestone edition, Mad Cool 2026 will expand to four days, up from the usual three, allowing for a more relaxed and immersive festival atmosphere. Each day will feature a thematic focus, grouping artists by genre to create cohesive musical journeys.
The festival kicks off on Wednesday, July 8, with rock legends Foo Fighters headlining their only Spanish date of 2026 as part of their Take Over Tour. Joining them are Moby, who returns to Spain after 15 years, The War On Drugs, Wolf Alice, and newcomers The Last Dinner Party, among others.
On Thursday, July 9, the spotlight shifts to pop, led by Florence + The Machine, Lorde, and K-pop sensation Jennie (of Blackpink fame), who recently launched her solo career. The lineup also includes breakout stars like Teddy Swims, Zara Larsson, and Reneé Rapp, as well as a DJ set by The Blaze.
Friday, July 10 brings rock back into the mix with Twenty One Pilots, Kings of Leon, and Pixies, who are celebrating their 40th anniversary. Fans of alternative sounds can also look forward to performances by Halsey, A Perfect Circle, Interpol, and Sigrid.
The festival closes on Saturday, July 11 with a powerful lineup featuring Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Pulp, and David Byrne. Other highlights include Kasabian, The Vaccines, Matt Berninger (of The National), and The Black Crowes, ensuring a grand finale to the four-day celebration.
Enhanced Festival Experience
In response to feedback from past editions, Mad Cool 2026 introduces several key improvements. The daily capacity has been reduced to 55,000 attendees, down from previous years, to provide more space for movement and comfort. Additionally, one of the main stages will be removed to expand rest areas, food zones, and mobility pathways. More water stations, restrooms, and bars will also be available to enhance convenience.
To combat Madrid’s summer heat, gate openings and performances will begin an hour later than in previous years. Public transportation will operate extended hours to assist with late-night travel, maintaining the festival’s reputation for accessibility.
