A new edition of the Bubbling Boiling Music & Arts Festival is set to arrive this spring in Tianjin, gathering artists from across the indie, alternative and pop spectrum for a three-day celebration of music and art. Scheduled from May 2 to May 4, 2026, the festival will take place at the Dongjiang Coastal Music Plaza, a venue located in the Binhai New Area along the Bohai Sea.
Positioned as one of the rising cultural events in northern China, the festival combines international indie acts with leading names from the Chinese alternative scene, creating a diverse program that spans guitar-driven indie rock, experimental pop and contemporary Mandarin-language music.
The first day (May 2) will feature an eclectic lineup headlined by Chinese indie favorites Omnipotent Youth Society and Miserable Faith, alongside alternative rock act Escape Plan. International artists also make a strong appearance on the opening night, including British indie innovators Black Country, New Road, Mercury Prize winners English Teacher, UK indie veterans Sea Power, Russian post-punk group Motorama and producer-performer Yufu.
The second day (May 3) shifts toward a mix of pop and hip-hop influences. Taiwanese-American pop icon Vanness Wu appears on the bill alongside Chinese pop artist Azora Chin. The lineup also includes WOLFGANG (a collaborative project featuring Naqi Wolf, KKLUV and producer Yù), rapper Rapeter Wu Jiaxuan, hip-hop artist SHarK, indie act ChiliChill and performer DEN Deng Jie.
The festival’s final day (May 4) focuses on contemporary Mandarin pop and indie voices. Among the featured artists are Cheer Groupies performing a special extended closing set, singer Chen Li in a stage-exclusive appearance, and a collaborative performance by Waa Wei and 100%. Additional artists on the closing lineup include Laure Shang, Taiwanese indie icon Sandee Chan, rising Chinese pop artist Faye Chen and vocalist Zhang Wanqing.
With its coastal setting and a lineup blending Chinese and international artists, Bubbling Boiling continues to position itself as a bridge between regional music culture and the global indie scene. Organizers have indicated that additional artists and activities will be announced in the coming weeks, alongside further details about ticket sales and festival programming.
As the spring festival season begins across Asia, the Bubbling Boiling Music & Arts Festival 2026 promises three days of music by the sea — where indie rock, pop and alternative sounds converge in the heart of Tianjin’s growing cultural landscape.
