Sant Boi de Llobregat will once again become one of Catalonia's key live music destinations when the Altaveu Festival returns from September 11 to 13. Now in its 37th edition, the long-running event continues to champion artists with distinctive voices rather than mainstream trends, bringing together influential veterans, acclaimed independent musicians and promising new acts across several venues in the city.
This year's programme embraces a strong rock-oriented identity while maintaining the festival's traditional balance between established names and contemporary creators. Legendary Barcelona band Los Sírex, Granada rock icons 091, indie pioneer Sr. Chinarro, rockabilly sensation La Perra Blanco and Catalan rock band Dan Peralbo i el Comboi lead a line-up that reflects the festival's commitment to celebrating music as a living cultural heritage passed from one generation to the next.
The festival opens on Friday, September 11, with Altaveu Frontera winner Leyre Estruch at the Jardins de l'Ateneu, followed by alternative pop artist Syd de Palma and electronic producer Silvio. Teatre Cal Ninyo will host percussionist and composer Arnau Obiols, whose work draws inspiration from Catalan folk traditions and natural landscapes, alongside CarlaPérezVas, the solo project of Mourn member Carla Pérez Vas. The evening concludes in Plaça de l'Ajuntament with performances by Los Sírex and Dan Peralbo i el Comboi.
Saturday's programme begins with the second Altaveu Frontera selection, Duatizz, before welcoming Sr. Chinarro and satirical songwriter Jordi Ganchitos to the Jardins de l'Ateneu. Teatre Cal Ninyo will feature Californian-inspired rocker Juana Everett and singer-songwriter Kris Tena, while the main square hosts two of the festival's biggest concerts as La Perra Blanco and 091 close the night with back-to-back rock performances.
Beyond the concerts, Altaveu 2026 expands its cultural programme through Altaveu+, which includes the exhibition Urban Tribes: When Music Became Identity at Can Castells Centre d'Art from September 12 to November 28. The traditional Record and Music Book Fair will once again occupy Rambla Rafael Casanova throughout the festival weekend, while the family programme Altaveu en Família returns on Saturday morning. On Sunday, September 13, the Centre d'Art Can Castells will also host the presentation of Ella també hi era, the new book by music publisher and journalist Joni D.
Since its creation, Altaveu has built a reputation for discovering artists before they reach wider audiences while continuing to honour musicians who have shaped popular music. With a programme spanning rock, indie, folk, electronic music and experimental sounds, the 2026 edition reinforces the festival's role as one of Catalonia's most respected showcases for music with personality and artistic identity.
091, Los Sírex, Sr. Chinarro, La Perra Blanco and Dan Peralbo i el Comboi headline Altaveu 2026.
