Cancellations begin in Barcelona due to Covid-19 outbreak: Parc del Fòrum, Jamboree...

The live music sector has quickly reacted to the announcement of the Generalitat decree that aims to contain the outbreaks of Covid-19 in Barcelona and part of its metropolitan area: the concerts at the Parc del Fòrum are suspended and the Jamboree closes its doors 15 days.

And it seems that the situation is getting out of control, the epidemiologist Jacobo Mendioroz, director of the Covid-19 Monitoring Unit in Catalonia, has not ruled out that in less than 15 days a house confinement must be decreed in the entire metropolitan area de Barcelona if the data does not improve. It would be a return to the starting box after the de-escalation process.

The music sector has complained bitterly through a viral statement on social networks assuring that there has been no contagion at concerts or cultural events but the concerts cancellations have not been long in coming.

The concert series that takes place in the Parc del Fòrum, Nits del Fòrum, has announced in a statement on its Twitter profile its cancellation from July 18 to 31. Groups such as Ketama, Pavvla, Mujeres, Tribade, Mishima, Luna Ki, El Yiyo, Smoking Souls had to perform in this great outdoor space during these two weeks. According to the organization, the dates will be rescheduled as far as possible and will be refund the amount of the ticket to affected people who so wish.

The organization argues that "it takes a step aside" due to "the uncertainty in a context of recommendations and contradictory restrictions that confuses both the organization and musicians and assistants." It notes that "we do not want anyone (neither artists nor the public nor promoters) to feel insecure about participating in an open-air concert, even if it is performed according to all the measures required by the health and administrative authorities and has not yet been notified no focus on such an event. "

For its part, the quintessential jazz club in Barcelona, the Jamboree, has announced on its Facebook profile that it will also close until July 31, inclusive, even though it is the first venue to offer a live concert in the city after the lockdown.

The city's summer festival, the Grec, continues with all its programming intact for the moment. The Cruïlla Festival and the Pedralbes Festival also continue.
