Drums Of War Announces First Edition in August 2026 Near Barcelona

Unleashed, 1349, Impaled Nazarene and Deathhammer lead a new extreme metal gathering in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat

🗞️ Published: 2 March 2026 · Updated: 2 March 2026

A new chapter in Barcelona’s heavy music landscape will begin this summer with the launch of Drums Of War, an extreme metal festival organized by the association Manguales. Scheduled for 27, 28 and 29 August 2026 at Atlantic Events in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, the inaugural edition will focus unapologetically on black metal, death metal, thrash and underground cult acts, aiming to establish itself as a reference point for the most uncompromising corners of the genre.

Conceived as Manguales’ most ambitious project to date, Drums Of War will open with a warm-up event on August 27 before two full days of programming on the 28th and 29th. The lineup already blends established legends with exclusive performances, underlining the festival’s commitment to both heritage and contemporary extremity.

Among the leading names is Unleashed, the Swedish pioneers who have flown the Nordic death metal banner since 1989. Known for their Viking-themed anthems and crushing riff work, the band’s appearance is billed as an exclusive Spanish performance for 2026.

Norwegian black metal force 1349 joins the bill, bringing the relentless ferocity that has defined albums such as Hellfire and The Infernal Pathway. Also confirmed are Finland’s Impaled Nazarene, whose three decades of blistering speed and nihilistic intensity have cemented their status within Europe’s extreme underground.

Further expanding the Scandinavian presence, Deathhammer will deliver their old-school black/thrash assault, while Norway’s progressive cult act In the Woods... adds a darker, atmospheric dimension to the lineup.

The festival’s international scope extends beyond Europe. Singaporean war metal pioneers Impiety are set for an exclusive European show, promising a devastating live ritual steeped in blast-driven aggression. From the United States, Negative Plane will bring their occult-infused black metal atmospheres, while Acheron—formed in 1988 by Vincent Crowley—return to Europe for a rare appearance.

Other confirmed acts include Hellbutcher, Nocturnal, Kampfar, Zemial and Massacra (performing as Massacra Legacy), among others, with additional bands still to be announced.

Positioned just outside Barcelona’s city center, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat offers logistical accessibility while allowing the event to maintain an indoor, high-intensity atmosphere suited to extreme metal’s aesthetic. Organizers have emphasized their intention to support the international underground scene while fostering a strong local metal community.

With exclusive shows, rare European appearances and a clear curatorial focus on authenticity over mainstream appeal, Drums Of War 2026 aims to carve out a distinct identity from its very first edition. Tickets are already available through the festival’s official channels, with further announcements expected in the coming months.
