The iconic Inferno Metal Festival, one of the longest-running and most influential extreme metal events in the world, is gearing up for its 2025 edition, set to take place from April 17 to April 20 in Oslo. During the Easter period, the festival has announced a third wave of confirmations that reinforces its reputation for delivering a diverse and uncompromising experience for metal fans worldwide.

In its announcement, festival organizers revealed that the new wave of bands includes headlining acts such as Behemoth, Gaerea, Lamentari, and Rosa Faenskap. Behemoth, the renowned Polish act with a storied career dating back to 1991, is celebrated for blending black and death metal with lyrical themes steeped in history and occultism. Their return to Inferno Metal Festival is sure to set a fierce tone for the 2025 edition.

Gaerea, a rising Portuguese black metal band that formed in 2016, brings an atmospheric yet aggressive sound defined by sharp riffs and relentless drumming. Their inclusion promises an electrifying performance that resonates with both underground purists and new fans alike. Danish outfit Lamentari, known for their symphonic blackened death metal style, is making waves with their debut album "Ex Umbra in Lucem" and is set to deliver a performance that combines cinematic grandeur with raw aggression. Adding a unique flavor to the lineup, Rosa Faenskap—a trio known for channeling their fury against homophobia, capitalism, patriarchy, and fascism—mixes black metal, post-rock, shoegaze, and hardcore punk, promising an uncompromising live set.

This third wave of announcements builds on a solid foundation established by previous confirmations. Longtime favorites like Tsjuder, the Norwegian stalwarts who will perform in a dual-set featuring both their original material and a tribute to Bathory (with a special appearance by Frederick Melander), and Tiamat, the Swedish pioneers returning after a decade to revisit classic albums "Clouds" (1992) and "Wildhoney" (1994), continue to draw a loyal following. Other notable acts include Necrophobic, whose latest release "In The Twilight Grey" exemplifies their relentless style; 1349, who have long defined the Norwegian black metal scene; and Blood Incantation, the American death metal outfit known for their psychedelic approach.

Additional acts such as Aeternus, Seth, Abyssic, Spectral Wound, Angist, Bythos, and Syn have also been confirmed, each bringing their distinct flavor to the festival’s sprawling lineup. Moreover, international projects like Violent Magic Orchestra, described as a fusion of visual art and black metal, promise to push creative boundaries, ensuring that every facet of extreme metal is on display.

Inferno Metal Festival 2025 will not only feature a stellar roster on the main stages at renowned venues in Oslo but also host side events such as the Black Metal Bus, art exhibitions, tattoo fairs, and auctions of rare memorabilia. These activities underscore the festival’s role as a comprehensive cultural celebration that goes beyond mere concerts, engaging fans in a vibrant community of metal enthusiasts.

With ticket sales surging and anticipation building, the 2025 edition of Inferno Metal Festival is set to be a milestone event. As the festival prepares to celebrate two decades of intense, boundary-pushing metal, fans from across the globe are eagerly awaiting the chance to experience an unforgettable four-day journey into the heart of extreme metal in Oslo.

With the announcement of new additions like Behemoth, Gaerea, Lamentari, and Rosa Faenskap, Inferno Metal Festival 2025 is poised to be the most explosive edition yet, uniting legends and emerging talent in a historic celebration of extreme metal.
