The Azkena Rock Festival (ARF) is back with a vengeance for its 24th edition, set to take place at the iconic Mendizabala in Vitoria-Gasteiz from June 18–20, 2026. Known for its eclectic mix of rock, punk, metal, and Americana, ARF continues to cement its reputation as one of Europe’s premier music festivals. This year’s lineup is nothing short of spectacular, blending legendary icons, long-awaited reunions, and rising stars into a three-day extravaganza.
Headlining the festival is none other than Alice Cooper, the godfather of shock rock. Returning to Mendizabala for the first time in 17 years, Cooper will deliver his signature theatrical performance filled with horror, burlesque, and timeless classics. Fans can expect tracks from his latest album, The Revenge of Alice Cooper, alongside hits like School’s Out and Poison. As his only Spanish date in 2026, this performance is already being hailed as one of the must-see shows of the summer.
Joining him is Social Distortion, the trailblazing California punk band led by Mike Ness. Four years after their last appearance at ARF, the band returns with a masterclass in punk-infused rock ‘n’ roll, blending anthems of redemption, loss, and resilience. Their exclusive set promises to be a high-energy spectacle that spans their four-decade career.
Exclusive Reunions and Unmissable Performances
One of the most anticipated moments of the festival is the reunion of SUGAR, who will perform in Spain for the first time in 30 years. Known for their groundbreaking albums like Copper Blue, this exclusive show will be a trip down memory lane for fans of ‘90s power pop and indie rock.
Other highlights include Imelda May, who will team up with guitarist Darrel Higham for a unique rock ‘n’ roll showcase, and Therapy?, who will perform their seminal album Troublegum in full—a treat for fans of noise rock and heavy riffs.
Punk, Metal, and Americana Take Center Stage
The festival also shines a spotlight on punk and hardcore legends like The Adicts, who are embarking on their farewell tour, and Discharge, pioneers of the D-Beat genre. Meanwhile, Evaristo, frontman of La Polla Records, Gatillazo, and Tropa do Carallo, brings his irrepressible energy and socially charged lyrics to the stage.
For fans of heavier sounds, Voivod and Corrosion of Conformity deliver blistering sets, while Circle Jerks and Tropical Fuck Storm inject doses of raw punk fury and experimental chaos. On the Americana side, Grammy-winning artist Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit and Nashville favorites Old Crow Medicine Show bring storytelling and soulful melodies to the mix.
Emerging Talent and Local Flair
Rising acts like Starbenders, The Damn Truth, and Split Dogs add fresh energy to the lineup, showcasing the next generation of rock ‘n’ roll. From the Basque Country, Nhil and Rodeo represent local pride with their unique blends of soul, funk, and stoner rock.
