Fuji Rock Festival has unveiled the first major wave of artists for its 2026 edition, set to take place from 24 to 26 July 2026 at the Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture. Long regarded as one of Asia’s most scenic large-scale festivals, Fuji Rock returns with a lineup that balances international headliners, alternative icons and prominent names from Japan’s contemporary scene.
Friday 24 July: Indie return and cross-continental rock
Opening night will be led by British indie band The xx, marking a high-profile return to the Japanese festival circuit. They share top billing with local rock staples ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION and punk veterans Hi-Standard, alongside American hardcore outfit Turnstile.
Friday’s programme reflects Fuji Rock’s long-standing genre diversity. Turkish psychedelic rock group Altın Gün, desert blues collective Tinariwen, and electronic figure Wata Igarashi appear alongside Japanese and international acts such as Hyukoh, Arlo Parks and Chappo.
Saturday 25 July: Groove, jazz and global crossover
Saturday’s headline slot belongs to Khruangbin, whose cross-cultural funk and soul have become festival staples worldwide. They are joined by Japanese pop phenomenon Fuji Kaze and UK electronic duo Basement Jaxx.
The day also features genre-fluid jazz collective BADBADNOTGOOD, British rock band The Libertines, and experimental soul group Kokoroko. Rising Japanese acts and international performers including XG and Tomora round out a programme that spans hip-hop, funk, indie and club music.
Sunday 26 July: Trip-hop legacy and alternative icons
Closing the festival on Sunday will be Bristol pioneers Massive Attack, whose politically charged trip-hop continues to influence electronic and alternative music globally. They headline a bill that includes Mitski, Scottish post-rock band Mogwai and American emo outfit American Football.
Japanese indie favourites never young beach and Tempalay appear alongside electronic duo The Chemical Brothers’s collaborators The Breaks, as well as international singer-songwriters including Donavon Frankenreiter and Sofia Isella.
A festival rooted in landscape
Held at Naeba Ski Resort since 1999, Fuji Rock remains distinctive for its forested stages, mountain backdrops and emphasis on environmental responsibility. Each year the event attracts tens of thousands of attendees who camp across the site or travel from Tokyo and beyond for the three-day gathering.
Organisers have confirmed that additional artists will be announced in the coming months, completing a programme that already signals another globally minded edition. Tickets and further information are available through the festival’s official channels.
From The xx and Khruangbin to Massive Attack and Mitski, Fuji Rock 2026 blends global indie, electronic pioneers and Japanese heavyweights across three days in Naeba.
