L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (near Barcelona, Spain) is set to host its much-anticipated Festa de la Primavera 2025 , a vibrant celebration marking the city’s centennial as an official municipality. Running from April 23 to 27, this year’s festivities blend music, art, tradition, and community spirit into an unforgettable five-day event.

A Festive Kickoff with Three Voices
For the first time in the festival’s history, the pregón (opening proclamation) will be delivered by three women representing three generations of L’Hospitalet natives: actress and comedian Asaari Bibang , writer Anna Caballé , and student Maria Romero , winner of the prestigious Extraordinary Baccalaureate Award. On Thursday, April 24 at 8 PM, they’ll take to the balcony of City Hall to officially launch the celebrations. This will be followed by the traditional ‘toc d’inici’ , featuring performances by local cultural groups, including the beloved Ball de la balsa .

The festivities begin even earlier on April 23, coinciding with Sant Jordi’s Day. Book signings by local authors and the enchanting Encuentro de Caballeros, Dragones y Princesas —a family-friendly event filled with storytelling and activities—will warm up the crowd ahead of the main events.

A Musical Feast Across Venues
Music lovers are in for a treat, with performances spanning genres and generations. One of the highlights is ‘La Noche del Pop Español’ , taking place at La Farga on Friday, April 25. Audiences can relive the golden era of Spanish pop with legendary acts such as Rafa Sánchez (of La Unión), Amistades Peligrosas, Cómplices, Javier Ojeda (of Danza Invisible), and DJ Raúl Orellana spinning hits from Estudio 54.

Meanwhile, the Parque de la Remunta serves as a hub for contemporary sounds. Over three days, attendees can enjoy for free performances by rising stars like The Crab Apples , Al·lèrgiques al Polen , and Suu , alongside established names such as La Ludwig Band and the ever-popular Los Mojinos Escozíos .

In Bellvitge, tribute bands steal the spotlight. The plaza known locally as “la Baldosa” will host homages to global icons like The Rolling Stones , Fito & Fitipaldis , Joaquín Sabina , and Queen , courtesy of talented local ensembles.

Urban music fans won’t be left out either. Sala Salamandra transforms into a hotspot for urban rhythms during ‘SUDOR XL’ , featuring high-energy sets from DOWOPZ, BEBE 22, MEYD, and more. For those seeking intimate settings, smaller gigs at Centro Cultural La Bòbila and Biblioteca Bellvitge offer cozy atmospheres perfect for acoustic sessions and reggae vibes.

Arts, Fire, and Tradition
Beyond music, the festival embraces street arts and traditions deeply rooted in Catalan culture. At Parc de la Torrassa, ‘ÒPAL’HA!!!’ combines circus acts, dance, graffiti, and live music for a multidisciplinary spectacle sure to captivate all ages. Meanwhile, fire takes center stage on Saturday night with the ‘correfoc’ , where devil-like figures ignite sparks and excitement through the streets.

Sunday morning begins with the lively ‘trabucaires’ , waking up the old town with gunpowder salutes. Later, giants, dragons, and human towers (castells ) fill the air around City Hall, culminating in a grand finale of fireworks at 10:15 PM.

Gastronomy and Handicrafts
Foodies won’t go home disappointed either. The popular Feria de la Cerveza Artesana returns to Plaça de Lluís Companys, offering craft brews alongside tapas from local restaurants participating in the Primavera de Tapas route. Visitors can also browse handmade goods at the artisan fair along Rambla de Marina or explore stalls run by senior citizens’ clubs on Rambla de Just Oliveras.

A Festival That Brings Generations Together
With over 100 activities planned, the Festa de la Primavera 2025 caters to every taste and age group. Whether you’re dancing to nostalgic pop anthems, marveling at fire-breathing beasts, or savoring homemade delicacies, L’Hospitalet invites locals and visitors alike to celebrate its rich heritage. Don’t miss your chance to experience one of Catalonia’s most cherished springtime traditions!

‘La Noche del Pop Español’ will bring Spanish Pop iconic voices from the 90s back to the stage, while local talent shines across multiple venues.
